Soft, Lime Green Baby Shower

I'm excited to end the week with this soft, yet beautiful baby shower.  The mom-to-be provided the inspiration, by using her favorite colors for her little one throughout the decor.  The decor included lime green flowers and cupcakes, silver monogram adorning a welcome table and accents of blue with the teddy bear and candies. All the details were captured by photographers Pickerill Creative.

Enjoy the long weekend everyone!

Fabric Tassel Cupcake Stand

This cupcake stand made with embroidery hoops totally makes me happy! One--because of all the lovely, whimsical fabrics Stefani of La Belle Parties used when she created this for Creative Juice. And two--it's a smart way to use leftover fabric.  If you're worried about the embroidery hoops being strong enough to hold the cupcakes, they suggested adding a cardboard circle for extra support.  You may even be lucky to find a cake round that is the same size as your hoop.

This is such a cute addition to any party table!  See the original post here.

It's a Donkey Kong Party!

I've got another boy birthday party for you today! And you'll go ape over this one!
When 7 year old Luca proclaimed he wanted a Donkey Kong themed party, his mother knew it would be a challenge. The classic character may still be loved but finding ready-made party items was nearly impossible. So, this DIY mom enlisted the help of an Etsy designer to help craft cutouts and printables. She added her own creative ideas by incorporating bananas, barrels and crates from the classic video game into the decor, along with a bright and whimsical palette. Her successful efforts were captured by Renee Marie Photography.  And judging by the big smile, it looks like the birthday boy had a swinging good time!

Today's Takeaway: Wood Block Decor

Amanda at Ruffled shared some amazing and inspiring photos of an event she went to in NYC, The Cream Event.  This table setting she shared from Glitter & Rye totally jumped out at me–because honestly–I never thought  blocks of wood could look so good on a table!  They even used wooden plaques as placemats.  I love this idea because it's inexpensive, different, and an easy to add various, interesting height to your table. I especially love this idea for the upcoming Fall season.  Pair the wood blocks with plaques of bark for a really organic feel.  Jump to Ruffled's post here to see more inspiring ideas from The Cream Event.

"2 Turning 2" Cowboy Party

Hold on to your cowboy hats for this super adorable red and blue cowboy party!  Friends, Angie Lundeen and Jana Gregg have boys one month apart, so they decided to throw a joint "2 turning 2" cowboy themed birthday party for their sons and friends. These moms are amazing-they did everything! Angie designed the invitations and WANTED signs (with personalized outlaw names like "Autumn the Ax" and "Dynamite Drew" for each boy). Together they came up with, and made, themed games, the red and blue banner, and photo props. IBC Root Beer, lemonade and iced tea were served in mason jars tied with twine. Lunch included kid favorites: hot dogs, chips, cowboy caviar, watermelon, assorted veggies and an amazing cake! Their friend Lauren Schroeder made the fabulous cowboy cake--a three-tiered fondant cake featuring blue jeans with a bull belt buckle and cow print with sheriff badge, separated with fondant rope and topped with a "2" cowboy hat!  Really--these ladies need to start their own business!!  But the best element of the party--FUN!  This party looked like so much fun.  All the effort was worth it!  I was so happy they shared it with Home Confetti, so I can share it with you!  (You can see more photos on Angie's own blog here.) Yee haw!

This Week's Tip-off: Planter Ice Box

Do you subscribe to Party Frosting?  It's a great blog that features roundups of ideas for different party themes and home entertaining.  Yesterday, Kim of Party Frosting included this clever idea to use a planter to keep foods cold–and I wanted to pass it on.  This is such a great idea because most of the time, who has a platter that's big enough to hold ice along with a plate of food?  Plus, it's a very decorative way to keep your food cold.

Ruffled Crepe Paper Cake Stand

Ruffles are so fun, no matter how you use them: on shoes, shirts, but especially in party decor! :)  I love this sweet and simple way to make a cake stand from Cake Journal.  Change the colors to make it perfect for any occasion.  I'm thinking black crepe paper and orange ribbon for Halloween??!!

Blue and Yellow Vintage Inspired Baby Shower

This vintage inspired baby shower, submitted and photographed by Anne Herbert Photography, was a break from the traditional. Vintage elements were combined with a subtle blue and yellow weather "shower" theme. Props from Rusty Love Vintage Rentals including barn wood tables, mason jars, medicine bottles, and vintage scales helped set the scene for an amazing day. Frames from The Organic Bloom were featured in dining and favor vignettes, and flowers from Richardson's Florist adorned the tables and gift area. The cake was custom created by Flavor Cupcakery to match the invitations. I love the soothing colors and metal touches. The candle was a perfect choice for favors. It certainly looked like a special day for the mom-to-be.
