GIRL SCOUTS HOST ELF ON THE SHELF BREAKFAST

December 1 is Saturday and for many kids it's the day they welcome their Elf on the Shelf! It was also the theme for this special Girl Scouts breakfast.
For over 25 years the Riverside Community Girls Scouts in Harlem, NY host an annual Breakfast with Santa. This year, former Girl Scout, Marissa Flores of The Event Ninjas in partnership with Noirstyle Invites, gathered a group of colleagues and solicited help from the community to host the biggest Breakfast with Santa yet! The event included free breakfast, games, activities, a modern day Santa–and of course, those yummy Girl Scout cookies! I love how each table featured an elf in a different pose! The tree featured handmade ornaments created by the Scouts. The event served the community and helped Scouts earn their community service badges, while learning new skills from planning to hosting. There are so many cute ideas if you're hosting your own Elf on the Shelf party.

"WILD ONE" 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY

Hello, hello!
Wanted to pop in today to share a cute birthday party we went to over the weekend for a friend's new one-year old. Mom is a graphic designer so I wasn't surprised that all the cupcake toppers and signage looked so good. She used the book, "Where the Wild Things Are" as the theme for the party. I really felt everything was done just right. Not too much. Not too little. It was a cute event. Kids played cornhole outside, enjoyed cupcakes and of course we all watched the little birthday girl smash her own cake.

TROLL-RIFIC BIRTHDAY PARTY!

Colorful, creative and fun – for both kids and adults. That's everything you want for a child's 5th birthday party. Trolls was the perfect theme to help this DIY mom accomplish it all. How much do you love the troll headbands as photo props?! The paper flower backdrop is stunning and the sprinkle birthday cake is just perfect. 'FUTURE'S SO BRIGHT' ELEMENTARY GRADUATION PARTY

Last week was a bittersweet one for me. My twin girls had their 5th grade promotion ceremony. It's exciting to see them become little ladies, but hard to see them grow up so fast.

To celebrate though a few families got together for a joint party and of course I volunteered to do the decorations. We had it at a neighbor's clubhouse, so the walls and such were a bit nitty gritty, but it was fine.

Since this was an elementary school "graduation" I wanted the decor to be fun, bright and look to the future. Inspired by this post I found on Pinterest, I went with the "Future's So Bright, Gotta Wear Shades" theme. I made the above sign with adhesive letters purchased at Target. Don't think those pieces of tape didn't bug me the whole night! But when you're putting up decor with 5 other people to get it done in 45 minutes that's what happens. (Plus, I was trying to hold back from being too nit picky!)

I had each parent provide a photo of the kids with shades on, that I created frames for and printed out. 

The other major piece of decor was the photo booth. Tissue paper made this really inexpensive, plus it was bright and played off the Mexican food we served.

The banner was made by just running AstroBright color paper through my printer and cutting each page out in a pennant shape.

The above paper lantern table centerpieces were great because they were light-up, so provided a soft glow when it got dark.

Each 5th grader got a Skittles-filled party favor.

Great fun was had by all - and that's all that really matters in the end, right?!

DETAIL FILLED ALICE IN WONDERLAND PARTY

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite party themes--for kids and adults. However, it is a big commitment to pull off, as proven by this party submitted by California photographer That Wandering Light. From the googly eyes on the flowers to the laser cut cupcake toppers to the clock tea cakes - no detail was spared! The colors combining pastels and greenery complemented the beach side setting. After having done a Queen of Hearts party myself (you can see here , here and here) I have a true appreciation of the effort that went into making this party magical! There is lots to look at - enjoy every detail!

MAGICAL UNICORN BIRTHDAY PARTY

For this DIY party planning mom a unicorn party was the only theme that would be able to capture the magic of turning 5. Pretty pastels, glitter, stars and tissue decor set the stage. The kids were kept occupied by crafting beautiful paper unicorns, playing "Pin the Horn on the Unicorn," smashing a pinata and blowing their very own shiny unicorn dust! This party was as beautiful as this little 5-year old and her name, Bella.
