Paper Glass Markers

Here's a neat little way to customize your glasses with pretty paper. I like this idea because it allows you to use any shape, color you want to complement the rest of your decor. A slight slit in the marker lets you put them on and off. Think about bookmarking this idea for the 4th of July! Find the original post at Craft and Creativity. (They even provide a star template.)

Mini Baked Alaskas

Baked Alaska always makes me think of my high school Home Ec class. An old school dessert, but still so impressive to serve. There are a few steps in making it–but easy steps. These Baked Alaska minis in tea cups look so regal and delicious! An unexpected way to end a tea party?? Check out the recipe and original post here at Badut.

Merry Monday: Beauty/Spa Party

I finally got a chance to get a few of the photos together from the beauty/spa party I did for the MOMS Club I belong to. It was a lot of fun. The decor and the food was–what I like to call–"just right simple." I served chocolate covered strawberries, cheesecake cups (recipe here) and cherry y0gurt covered pretzels. Since it was right before Valentine's Day, I did a soft Valentine's Day theme. Simple enough that I didn't have to knock myself out on a weeknight, but yet still pretty enough that it made the night feel a bit more special.

As far as what the night entailed (besides cocktails!), each woman brought a beauty product for everyone to try: a funky blue nail polish, hand cream, etc. We made a lip gloss that I shared earlier here. But the real special treat was the massage therapist we had to give each of the women a massage. Heaven! It was truly a well-deserved night for the moms.

Happy feet!

St. Patrick's Day Ideas (2011 Flashback)

Ideas for St. Paddy's Day have been popping up all over the place--which reminded me to highlight some of the fun things I did with friends and family last year. These are fun activities to do as a playdate/party, with classmates or just at home with your kids. The shamrock necklace continues to be one of my most viewed projects. You'll find all the links below.

Rainbow Sprinkle Cake

When I saw this on I'm Topsy Turvy--I couldn't believe I hadn't seen this done more often! How fun does this sprinkle covered cake look? I will be sure to use this idea. This is so much simpler than attempting to do some fancy moves with icing on a cake. For application tips, visit the original post here.

DIY Animal Safari Hooks

I'm always keeping an eye out for handmade gift ideas. If you caught Martha Stewart's "Baby Shower" episode last week then you saw this adorable DIY idea–which turns hooks into animal tails. The safari theme is so popular for nurseries, you're sure to find an occasion to make it. It also could be used on the back of a bathroom door, playroom or mudroom. Find the tutorial here. Templates are even provided.

Paper Rose Medallion Wreath

Two pretty ideas brought together to make something unique and versatile!

I'm seeing ceiling medallions being used for much more than ceiling ornaments. Coupled with a book page paper rose, this wreath from Pretty Handy Girl would not only be a fabulous adornment for the front door, but also a pretty focal point for a shabby chic party table backdrop. Find the full tutorial here.

Merry Monday: Pink & Green Baby Shower

A beautifully decorated pink and green patio and warm L.A. day made for a very special shower for mom-to-be and expected baby girl, Liv. The bunting made up of personal photos is a special touch and perfect takeaway idea to use for any sentimental occasion. Enjoy these photos taken by Megan Small Photography.

Wax Paper & Crayon Chandelier

If you haven't been craving Spring yet, this might make you start. I love the colors provided by the crayons, and the lightness of the flowy way in which they're displayed. This would be a great focal point over a table for any sort of Spring themed party. The crayon discs are almost reminiscent of butterflies--they're so pretty.

Designed by one of the sisters of TheLetter4, check out the tutorial here. And while you're there, check out their craft projects. They've got some great ones--they were even guests on The Martha Stewart Show!

Blogger Love for Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is all about showing some love to friends and family. Well, today, I want to show some love to a few blogger friends who have been a great support of Home Confetti's with their consistent comments on the blog, and especially on Facebook and Twitter. Please don't hate me if you are not included on this list. I picked five off the top of my head for now, and will be sure to recognize others in the near future.

So, a big Happy Valentine's Day shout out to the following peeps! Please take the time to visit their blogs--they're all really great people!

Another party mama! Staci's blog is a collection of fun ideas from her and from around the 'Net that she uses for her own personal parties and family. In fact, her blog's name is made up of the nicknames for her two little ones.

Blogger Melissa's hysterical account of adventures with her family, that includes her husband and 4 highly-intelligent children! She writes on everything from battles with her kids to her favorite musician, Prince to just life observations. She has the courage to say a lot of things we'd love to!

I encourage you to visit this site, not only to check out their fun party products, but for a dose of Do Driver's optimism and enthusiasm. It's better than coffee! The love for her work shines through the final products they make and her blog posts.

A mommy of 2 girls; one almost 12, the other over a year old. Christi uses her blog as a virtual time-out from the daily challenges of raising two girls in two very different stages, and the craziness of everyday life. Christi's first person narratives really help bring you inside her world of dilemmas, questions and... tantrums! And boy--you will be sure to relate to many of them!

Clem (whose real name is Carole) and I met on Twitter. She is a self-professed craftiopath! Always fun to see what she shares, she also coordinates crafty celebrations in Canada's Ontario area.

Happy Valentine's to EVERYONE!

Merry Monday: Garden Baby Shower

Remember this cheery Owl Themed Shower I posted a week ago? Well, photographers Verve Studio is sharing another beautiful baby shower, styled by Adore Events, and featured in Giggle Magazine. (How lucky are we?!)

This garden themed baby shower is as vibrant as the featured mommy-to-be! I love the color pallette with pops of lemon yellow and aqua. Those beautiful eyelet placemats remind me of something my mom used to own. They give each setting a handmade feel.

This shower also provides great inspiration for Mother's Day, bridal shower or an intimate birthday party.
Enjoy this beautiful showcase. (You'll find additional vendor resources at the end of the post.)

Cheesecake Cups

Last night I hosted a beauty/spa night for the MOMS Club I belong to. So fun! I gave a little preview earlier in the day on Twitter and Facebook with this photo of cheesecake cups I made. And I quickly got a couple of tweets asking what they were/how they were made. So, I want to share the OH SO EASY recipe. In fact, it's a Kraft recipe.

All you need is:
1 package (8 oz.) of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup of sugar
1 tub (8oz.) of COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
I used small broken pieces of Honey Graham Cinnamon Crackers - but the original recipe used Oreo cookies

Directions:
Beat cream cheese and sugar until well blended. Then, gently stir in whipped topping.

Line bottom of glasses with pieces of honey graham cookies. Spoon cream cheese mixture into cups/glasses. Top with graham cracker crumbs.

Now, depending on the size of your cup, you may want to add a layer of the graham cracker crumbs in the middle too, which is traditionally more of a parfait. YUM!

I'll post photos of the evening next week! Have a great weekend!!

Owl Lantern

I've seen paper lanterns made into bunnies, jack o'lanterns and other fun things, but I have to say this one made me smile. I love the colors. Perfect for a kid's room and owl-themed party. Found via Dollar Store Crafts here.

DIY Honey Almond Lip Gloss

Last year I hosted a spa party (you can see here) for the MOMS Club I belong to. It was so much fun that I'm hosting another one this Thursday night. Last year we made this peppermint sugar scrub here. So I want to make something different this time. It's challenging because I also want each woman to make her own-so the recipe needs to be for "one." From looking at different DIY beauty projects, I was able to come up with one for a Honey Almond Lip Gloss. Shiny and moisturizing! This is perfect for a ladies night out, party favors or gift idea. I even made a label for you to use that you can download at the bottom.

Here's what you need:

1 Tbspn Coconut Oil (can be found at any natural grocer)
3 Drops Vitamin Oil (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for $3.99)
3 drops Almond Oil (I bought mine at Hobby Lobby for $5.99)
1/8 tspn Honey
Measuring spoons
Small mixing spoon and small mixing bowl
Lip Gloss Container - I couldn't find actual lip gloss containers, but I found these paint pots at Hobby Lobby that will do the trick!

All you need to do is combine all the ingredients. It will look like this:

Then spoon into one of the little pots and use when you need a little shine or moisturizing. That's it! Here is what my finished pot of gloss looks like.

If you want to use the labels, click on the link below. Have fun!

Tea Party Playdate

There's no better reason to throw a tea party than to just get dressed up and eat goodies! Carly, from Girl Friday, created this surprise tea party for her client's little girls. The decor is just enough to make it fun, but it's not over the top for this intimate tea party. I love the subtle vintage touches like the lace tablecloths and china. And for you DIYers, there is a great deal of inspiration here too–look at that beautiful bunting and fun button ball!

Beautifully photographed by Erin Johnson Photography. Make sure to check out the list of vendors at the end of this post.

Merry Monday: Owl Themed Baby Shower

A lovely owl themed baby shower for two–two twins that is! A beautiful combination of rustic touches with modern elements in this photo shoot provide great inspiration for a shower or birthday party. I think my favorite elements are the verical hanging moss ball garland and birch bark vases!

Styled by ADORE Events and photographed by Verve Studio. You'll find more vendor information at the end of this post.
